After not playing today against Finland, the status of Sidney Crosby for the gold medal against the USA has become more clear by Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper.
Once again, Team Canada will play for a gold medal in men’s ice hockey, and as they did in 2002 and 2010, they’ll play the United States for the ultimate international prize.
Canada booked their trip to the gold medal game with a dramatic 3-2 winover Finland after they were losing 2-0 going into the third period.
Canada captain Sidney Crosby didn’t play after he was hurt in the previous game against Czechia, and his official status for Sunday’s game hasn’t officially been determined.
But per the latest from Canada head coach Jon Cooper, there’s a better chance that Crosby plays on Sunday than he did today.
We have 48 hours to determine…he has a better chance of playing than he did of playing today. - Jon Cooper
Crosby has six points (2G, 4A) so far in the Olympics before he went down with injury.
Canada has yet to lose a single game in the Olympics in which Crosby is able to play.
Sidney Crosby Is The Inspirational Leader Of Canada
As one of the most accomplished players in NHL history, Crosby had also accomplished great things internationally for his country.
In addition to scoring the golden goal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, he also captained Canada to another gold medal in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
If Crosby is able to play on Sunday, it will be a natural major boost for Canada and increase their chances of claiming another gold medal.
