Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper has confirmed veteran forward Brad Marchand's playing status for their upcoming quarterfinals game.

Team Canada looks every bit like the dominant force that they were expected to be in the 2026 Olympics, but they are about to get a key veteran piece back onto the ice.
Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper has confirmed that veteran forward Brad Marchand, who has been made a healthy scratch in each of their last two games, will play in the upcoming quarterfinals.

Marchand, playing in his first year in a Panthers sweater, has 50 points (25G, 25A) and will need to be at his best when he returns to Florida, as the Panthers are currently outside of the Stanley Cup Playoffs thanks largely to several devastating injuries.
Right now, there's been no indication of which player would come out of the lineup to make room for Marchand's return.

Brad Marchand Had Been Made A Healthy Scratch For Canada In The Last Two Games

Cooper hasn't explained why Marchand was made a healthy scratch, but it's clear that he thinks Canada will benefit from his trademark style of play.
Marchand, known as one of the best pests in the National Hockey League, is a two-time Stanley Cup winner, first with the Boston Bruins in 2011 and then last spring with the Panthers.
He also broke the hearts of Bruins fans, who were expecting a return to Boston, by staying with the Panthers and signing a six year contract that takes him through the age of 43.
