Jeremy Swayman reveals the surprising reason he allowed embarrassing goal from center ice

Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, who let in an embarrassing goal in Team USA's 6-3 win over Denmark, explained what happened from his point of view.
Even though Team USA won 6-3 over Denmark, goalie Jeremy Swayman made international headlines for allowing an embarrassing goal from distance in the first period.
He was beaten on a shot from almost 100 feet away, which gave Denmark a brief 2-1 lead and could have spelled absolute disaster for the heavily favoured American team.
After winning the game, Swayman was asked about what he saw on the goal and admitted that he didn't see the puck.
It was a flash screen, and it was just the perfect height, right between the stands and board level. truly lost it. Definitely one I want back, but at the same time, at this level, you have stay even-keeled. It’s one shot at a time, and no matter how they go in, you’ve got to step up and stop the next one. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman Said That He Is Colourblind
Head coach Mike Sullivan could have decided to replace Swayman with Connor Hellebuyck, but stuck with Swayman until the end.
After saying that he simply lost the puck, Swayman also said that he's colourblind and that the darker boards don't really affect him.
Yeah, I’m colourblind, so it doesn’t matter to me. It’s something all of us goalies have to face, and we play in different arenas every night in the NHL, so this is just another one, and it’s a challenge that we have to embrace. You know what? Now we’ll talk about it, move on and get to Germany tomorrow. - Jeremy Swayman
