Two teams bow out of Dylan Larkin trade talks

According to Michael Russo, speaking to Jeff Marek on The Sheet, the Minnesota Wild are one of the few teams left pursuing a deal.

Larkin requested a trade out of Detroit after the 2025-26 season and named the Golden Knights, Wild, and Panthers as teams he'd accept a trade to, largely due to his ties with Olympic teammates on each roster. Since then, momentum has stalled.

Neither Florida nor Vegas appear to have the assets to meet Detroit's asking price for Larkin, and Florida's offseason addition of Brady Tkachuk has further reduced its need for another top-six center.

Russo, who covers Minnesota closely, confirmed the Wild are still engaged, adding they need to see who Detroit's next GM is before any trade can move forward.

Detroit has yet to name a permanent replacement for Steve Yzerman, who departed the front office, stalling every conversation league-wide involving Larkin.

Detroit's asking price, believed to center on a young, controllable top center in return, has been the central roadblock.

No offers from any of the three original teams have intrigued the Wings so far. Larkin, who scored 34 goals and totaled 67 points last season, remains a coveted name, but with two suitors out and Detroit's front office in flux, a resolution may not come quickly.

For Dylan Larkin, this uncertainty is less than ideal. Now, he must wait for the franchise to seal his fate, and that could take weeks.

There is a real scenario in which Larkin starts the season on the Red Wings, and it doesn't seem like both sides want that.

Needless to say, this is a situation the entire league is monitoring closely.
