New details emerge on why Jack Hughes reportedly broke up with Tate McRae

The New Jersey Devils captain and the pop star were never officially confirmed as a couple, but that did not stop months of DeuxMoi sightings, cozy dinners in the West Village and courtside appearances at Prudential Center from telling their own story.

Now, according to a Page Six report making the rounds this week, that story appears to be over.

Sources close to Hughes claim he was the one who pulled the plug, and that he did it after noticing what he described to friends as red flags.

The same report claims Hughes has already moved on and started seeing other people.

Not everyone agrees with that version though.

Sources close to McRae are pushing back, insisting it was actually her decision to walk away.

Hughes and McRae reportedly first connected after he slid into her DMs late last year, with the two casually seeing each other before going exclusive by March.

McRae was spotted cheering him on during the season and even backed Team USA during his Olympic run, while Hughes reportedly made the trip out to support her tour dates when his schedule allowed.

Neither Hughes nor McRae has publicly addressed the breakup, and both have kept their relationship largely private from the jump, which makes separating rumor from fact a little tricky here.

The reaction online has been split between fans defending Hughes and others siding with McRae, with plenty of speculation about what those red flags actually were.

Until either side speaks up, this one stays firmly in rumor territory.
