The Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers have made some big moves this summer, and while this isn't a blockbuster deal, it could be an intriguing one.

Xavier Bourgault was once seen as a hugely promising prospect for the Edmonton Oilers, but the 2021 No. 22 overall pick hasn't developed the way anyone would have expected, with the 21-year old tallying a solid 20 points in 55 games played with the Bakersfield Condors last season. Now, they've made the surprise move to deal him to the Ottawa Senators alongside Jake Chiasson, as the team got back Roby Jarventie and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick.
TRADE: #Sens acquire Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson from the #Oilers in exchange for Roby Jarventie and a 2025 4th round pick
This deal has come out of absolutely nowhere, with both teams seemingly believing that a change of scenery could be what's necessary for their prospects to flourish, and with the Oilers forward group all set moving forward, Bourgault may now get an opportunity in the NHL.
As for the Oilers, they get back a solid prospect along with a late round pick in next years draft, and given the win-now attitude they've got moving forward, it's a move that makes plenty of sense.
