Tonight, a new mock trade proposed by a fan has emerged that would see the Montreal Canadiens land former top-five overall pick Shane Wright from the Seattle Kraken.

The Montreal Canadiens have been vocal this offseason about wanting to find a second-line center to pair with Nick Suzuki for next season.
As expected, most teams around the league are not willing to move a second-line center to a contender like Montreal without the Canadiens overpaying.
This means the Canadiens could potentially have to take a risk on an unproven player with high potential to be a great player in the right situation.
One suggested mock trade would see Shane Wright who recently requested a trade land in Montreal for next season.

New mock trade emerges sending Shane Wright to the Montreal Canadiens

Tonight, a fan suggested a swap of young promising players in which the Seattle Kraken would send Shane Wright to Montreal in exchange for Oliver Kapanen.
Wright, 22, is a former exceptional status player in the OHL who went 4th overall to the Kraken but has struggled to translate in the NHL topping out at 44 points during his rookie season in the NHL.
Kapanen who is also 22 just finished his rookie campaign in Montreal tallying 37 points in 82 games but found himself as a consistent scratch in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
If Kent Hughes does not believe Kapanen can take his game to the next level then using him in a trade would be the best idea.
Taking a swing on Wright would be a major risk but could come with a major reward as prospect analysts and scouts believed Wright could be an elite number one center in his prime.
It will now be up to Kent Hughes and Seattle GM Jason Botterill to determine whether a deal centered around these two young players makes sense.
As more information is provided on Wright's NHL future and Montreal's potential pursuit of him we will pass that news along to you.
