Nazem Kadri is heading back to the Colorado Avalanche.
Elliotte Friedman reported the trade a few minutes ago, over an hour past the official trade deadline
Calgary is moving a proven top-six center, and Colorado is buying a playoff edge.
Kadri has 12-29-41 this season, plus 174 shots that show he is still hunting his own offense.
That instantly deepens Colorado's middle and eases matchups for their wingers.
Now the question is fit, not talent, because Kadri already knows the pace and the expectations in Denver.
Nazem Kadri raises Colorado Avalanche stakes right now
Avs fans have been begging for that old bite down the middle again, and this feels like a full-send moment.
Kadri has won in Colorado before, let's see if he can do it again.
UPDATE
The full trade details are out:
We have acquired Nazem Kadri and a 2027 fourth-round pick from the Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Victor Olofsson, the rights to unsigned draft pick Max Curran, a conditional 2028 first-round pick and a conditional 2027 second-round pick.
This is a very solid return for the Flames, who will retain 20% ($1.4 million) of Kadri's salary.
The biggest trade of the deadline, it turns out, came an hour after!
