Another major defenseman is off the trade market, as the Utah Mammoth have secured a big fish by acquiring MacKenzie Weeger from the Calgary Flames.

Cross another name off the trade market who was rumoured for the last several weeks to be dealt to a new club.
The Calgary Flames have traded MacKenzie Weegar to the Utah Mammoth, who have shown that they are serious about not only going back to the playoffs since 2020 when they were the Arizona Coyotes, but doing some damage.
Weegar had been acquired by the Flames in July of 2022 as part of the blockbuster trade from the Florida Panthers with Jonathan Huberdeau for Matthew Tkachuk. Since the trade, the Panthers have gone to three straight Stanley Cup Finals and won two straight Cups, and the Flames have yet to make the playoffs.
