'The Perfect Goalie': Retired NHLer Nate Thompson Praises Recent Hall-Of-Fame Snub on Social Media
Retired NHLer Nate Thompson recently praised former Canadiens' goalie Carey Price as being the best ever after he was snubbed from being entered in the Hall of Fame.
Included among them are former San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton, three-time Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smythe winner Duncan Keith, and Alexander Mogilny, the first Soviet player to defect to the NHL.
Most noticeable by his absence from the list was Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, the franchise's all-time winningest goaltender with 361 victories. Although he never won a Stanley Cup, Price's resume does the talking.
In 2014-15, he had one of the most dominant goaltending seasons in recent memory, winning the Hart Trophy, Vezina Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award, and William Jennings Trophy after going 44-16-6 with a 1.96 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage, and nine shutouts.
In his career,
Carey Price went 361-261-79 with a 2.51 GAA, .917 save percentage, and 49 shutouts. His final full season came in 2021, when he led Montreal on an unlikely run to the Stanley Cup Final, where they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Former Montreal Canadien Nate Thompson Calls Carey Price 'The Perfect Goalie'
Former NHLer Nate Thompson defended Price on social media after the snub, referring to him as "the perfect goalie."
Price's career was derailed by injuries, such as knee surgery in 2021. He subsequently entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and experienced setbacks during his rehabilitation. Although he played five games in 2021-22, he has not played since.
