Connor Bedard was furious after Phillip Danault clipped him with a blindside hit, and Spencer Knight had a scare too as the Canadiens beat the Blackhawks 4-1.

Connor Bedard was fuming Friday night at the United Center after Phillip Danault of the Canadiens caught him with a hit he never saw coming.
Montreal went on to win 4-1, but the moment everyone kept talking about came in the first period.
Bedard had started the night in great form.
He opened the scoring at 4:23 with a snap shot from just outside the left circle after Patrick Kane slid him the puck in the neutral zone.
Then things got chippy in a hurry.

Bedard gets into it with the Canadiens

Bedard took a penalty on his next shift, which the Blackhawks managed to kill.
On his first shift out of the box, Danault clipped him, and Bedard answered by getting into it with Alexandre Carrier.
Cross-checks were exchanged and it looked for a second like the gloves might come off.
Bedard was the most engaged player Chicago had all night.
Nothing came of it on the scoreboard, though.
Jake Evans tied the game at 17:29 of the first, then scored a shorthanded goal in the second to put Montreal ahead.
Kaiden Guhle added another, and Mike Matheson iced it into an empty net with 2:38 left.

Scary moment for Spencer Knight

The Blackhawks had a scare in net.
At one point, Danault's skate caught Spencer Knight in the mask, and it was a close call.
Knight appeared to be fine and stayed in the game, finishing with 24 saves on 27 shots.
Montreal picked up its first road win since opening night, and Chicago slipped to 2-3-0 on its seven-game homestand.
Jacob Fowler made 20 saves on 21 shots for the Canadiens, who were playing without captain Nick Suzuki.
Bedard finished with a goal and plenty of frustration, and Chicago will need to keep him cool moving forward.
