The NHL is expanding again. Ask Clayton Keller or Nick Schmaltz how the league's previous southern experiments actually worked out.

Houston as an expansion destination makes complete sense.
The Texas market is massive and fully equipped for a permanent hockey footprint.
But hearing Atlanta floated as the other primary target is baffling.
We have already watched this exact scenario collapse twice.
The front office loves pushing the sport into markets that refuse to support it.
Meanwhile, Quebec City sits idle with a state-of-the-art building.

NHL, Stop Ignoring Quebec City!

A return to Quebec guarantees an immediate, massive revenue stream.
The Videotron Centre holds 18,259 fans and stands completely NHL-ready right now.
The league watched the Arizona saga drag on for years before finally pulling the plug.
Handing Atlanta a third franchise over a rabid hockey hotbed is pure stubbornness.
Commissioner Gary Bettman continues to prioritize untapped television markets over the cultural heart of the sport.
While Houston offers genuine growth, returning to Georgia for a third attempt feels like a desperate gamble that ignores the stability of Canadian interest.
Houston is a clear winner for the next wave of expansion.
But Atlanta belongs in the rearview mirror.
Bring back the Nordiques.
