Former Lightning assistant equipment manager Jason Berger will now be joining former Lightning Assistant General Manager Mathieu Darche on Long Island.

Former Tampa Bay Lightning assistant equipment manager Jason Berger will be coming aboard the New York Islanders as their new head equipment manager, reports 'The Hockey News'.
Berger will be joining former Lightning executive Mathieu Darche, who was signed with the Islanders over the offseason as their General Manager and Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.
"He'll serve as the head equipment manager.

Spent 8 seasons with the Bolts. Also equipment manager for the Maccabi games in Israel.

Big time energy guy from what I'm told."

Stefen Rosner

Jason Berger won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Lightning

Jason Berger was with the Lightning since 2017, acting as assistant equipment manager through the team's back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 2020 and 2021.
Before joining Tampa Bay, Berger worked as equipment manager for the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds, the AHL's Providence Bruins, and the ECHL's Florida Everblades.
His new position with the Islanders is his first as a head equipment manager at the NHL level.
Marthieu Darche spent a six-year stint with Tampa Bay, assisting their front office in prospering.
Since arriving at the helm of the Islanders, he's been praised for making his presence felt in the form of a solid performance at the 2025 NHL Draft and innovative roster pickups.
Berger's appointment is another step in the direction of bringing in familiar faces to usher in a new era for the Islanders under Darche.
