Following the death of a 14-year NHL veteran due to CTE, Allan Walsh, a prominent NHL agent, put the full blame on Gary Bettman.

TSN reported today that 14-year NHL veteran Greg Johnson, who passed away several years ago, was due to CTE, a brain disease that is linked to repeated blows to the head in sports. NHL agent Allan Walsh, who has been known to speak his mind, took shots at Gary Bettman, blaming him for repeatedly failing to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the players.

A message directly to Gary Bettman - there is NHL player blood on your hands. #EndCTE

Johnson's daughter has spoken out about these latest findings, and she is now urging all athletes, not just those in the NHL, to really understand the risks of CTE and ensure they are doing whatever they can to help avoid falling prey to this brutal disease.

«I had no idea what CTE even stood for when my dad took his life,» Carson said in a statement released by the Boston-based Concussion Legacy Foundation. «Now understanding that the hits he endured throughout his hockey career damaged his brain, I want all athletes to understand the risks and I want the NHL to start acknowledging it exists and do more to protect its players so other daughters don't have to lose their fathers.»

Hopefully, the findings of Johnson's death and the criticism Bettman is facing by NHL agents and players will help initiate steps to be taken in the hope of ending this awful disease in sports, however, as we all know, Bettman likes playing by his own rules.
