Today on the 32 Thoughts podcast Elliotte Friedman revealed why Mike Yeo left the Vancouver Canucks and the reason will shock you.

Yesterday it was announced that the Vancouver Canucks parted ways with assistant coach Mike Yeo despite quite a successful season.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has mutually parted ways with Assistant Coach, Mike Yeo.

The organization would like to thank Mike for all his work the past two seasons.

Today Elliotte Friedman revealed that Yeo left Vancouver on his own accord and was offered a contract by them.

Friedman says Mike Yeo turned down a contract offer from the #Canucks

Suggests he's looking at other options

«I wonder if there's another coach out there that has a connection with Mike Yeo and wants him or Yeo sees another situation out there he wants to take a look at»

It is speculated that the team Yeo is looking at is the Toronto Maple Leafs as he is a Toronto-native and has close ties to current Leafs head coach Craig Berube.

Mike Yeo is headed for a new opportunity 'closer to home.'

Yeo is from Toronto. And his former associate coach in St. Louis has just taken over *in* Toronto...

We do not know the full coaching staff for the Toronto Maple Leafs next season so there is certainly room for Yeo.
