Waivers are getting rolling as of late, and with so much movement, Elliotte Friedman has predicted some major goaltending changes this off-season.
Over the past few days, we've seen more than 50 players
placed on waivers around the NHL, and with the regular season starting in just a matter of days, there's expected to be much more movement.
Thus far, we've seen very few big names placed on waivers or moved, but according to Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman, that could be changing quickly, especially on the goaltender front.
On his latest episode of the
32 Thoughts Podcast, Friedman addressed the goaltending situation around the NHL, and while there's not expected to be a blockbuster, he names two players that are either likely to be traded or placed on waivers.
I think this week is gonna be one of the more interesting weeks on the waiver wire to see which goalies get there and when; there's at least two goalies...do they get traded beforehand; Michael DiPietro and Clay Stevenson.
It's likely that neither will play a major role in the NHL this season, but given how important depth is to teams, especially in net, both of these players could be very intriguing options for those organizations seeking a third string goaltender.
Friedman doesn't mention which teams could be interested in DiPietro or Stevenson, but given what we've heard about several goaltender needy teams this summer, don't be surprised to see both on the move at some point before the regular season begins.
