NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman came to the defense of his fellow analyst Frank Seravalli, who incorrectly reported that Corey Perry wanted to remain and even extend with the Kings before being traded today to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Even there are going to be multiple trades today, there was one that caught many fans and analysts by surprise.
The Los Angeles Kings traded Corey Perry, who was in his first year with the club, back to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a second round draft pick.
It conflicted with a report from NHL analyst Frank Seravalli, who recently reported that Perry had no desire to leave Los Angeles and was even thinking about a contract extension beyond this year.
Can take Corey Perry off the Trade Targets board, he's informed the Kings he wants to stay. They will talk contract extension after the deadline.

Kings unlikely to buy or sell. - Frank Seravalli
As you now know, that report turned out to be incorrect with Perry being traded to the Lightning.
Sometimes the analysts get it wrong, and Elliotte Friedman is coming to his fellow analyst's defense.
I know it looks bad. I'll defend him...there's so much out there, it can happen. There I go by the grace of God. - Elliotte Friedman
Right now, Friedman leads the pack of notable NHL analysts in breaking trade news.

Corey Perry Returns To The Tampa Bay Lightning

Perry is going back to the Lightning, where he lost in the Stanley Cup Final in 2022 to the Colorado Avalanche.
The Lightning are the best team in the Eastern Conference right now and are the heavy betting favourites to not only take home the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2021, but keep the Cup in the state of Florida.
