In an insane video going viral on X.com, a youth hockey player in Russia went crazy on two linesmen after a scrum in a minor hockey game.

Youth Player Throws Punches At Refs After Fight

There is a warranted debate on whether or not fighting has a place in hockey, however, it has been generally agreed upon that youth hockey players are too young to be engaging in that type of physicality. However, hockey is still a physical sport, and sometimes things fizzle into a fight.
In this video going viral, however, one youth hockey player went way too far, attacking referees after a scrum on the ice.
KID TAKES ON BOTH LINESMEN 😮

These are probably 14 or 15 yr olds.
This kid will probably never play in the league again.

Geesh.
The minor hockey game appears to have occurred in Russia, and it's likely this player will receive a major suspension.

Efforts to Encourage Referees Is Needed For Youth Sports

This type of behaviour should be severely punished, not only because it goes against the rules of the game, but it exacerbates an already difficult issue of encouraging young referees to get involved in the sport.

The challenge of finding new referees is getting larger. Refs already face extreme levels of scrutiny from parents, and now are endangering themselves on the ice. Not to mention, these refs are usually high-school-aged kids making money part-time or even volunteering.
