The future of hockey in Arizona seems to be very bright at the moment, and perhaps one of the biggest reasons for that is rising young star Logan Cooley.
After scoring a breathtaking goal in Australia during the pre-season, all eyes have been on the young star this season, and it's safe to say that alongside the likes of
Clayton Keller, Cooley is ready to take the jump to stardom immediately.
While he's yet to score a goal in his 8 career games, Cooley has notched six assists and is a +3 through the start of the season, but now, he has revealed that he almost didn't land in Arizona.
A draft day trade that almost happened
While appearing on the Spittin Chiclets podcast, Cooley revealed that while his meetings with Arizona went great, a surprise team told him just 20 minutes before the draft that they were trying to trade up to land the young Minnesota star.
I had a lot of great meetings with Arizona. So I thought that if I would get down to 3 that I'd have a good chance of going there. But I met with the Flyers about 20 minutes before the draft and I think they were trying to trade up, so I didn't know exactly what was gonna happen.
Ultimately, they couldn't make that happen and Cooley landed in Arizona amongst a host of other potential young stars, and given the state of the Flyers, it's safe to say that he's likely very, very happy with how it all played out.
