Shane Wright's name is once again in the midst of the public's whispers. After a controversial draft last year and a difficult first season where he started in the NHL only to end up in the OHL, he's now involved in a blockbuster trade scenario with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
By making this trade, the Leafs could stop worrying about Nylander's extension as well as most of their salary cap problems. Wright still has two years left on his entry-level contract, which is close to the league's minimum wage. They would also acquire Adam Larsson, a solid defenseman, to replace Brodie.
The Kraken would gain a great forward who could help them replicate last year's playoff experience. Nylander would fit well within the Kraken's organization and potentially fill a significant offensive gap in their roster. However, Shane Wright will play in the NHL someday, and the team that has him in their lineup will likely be pleased. Brodie would also bring experience to the Kraken's defensive core.
