REPORT: Vancouver Canucks give Bo Horvat EMBARRASSING contract offer
The Vancouver Canucks started off the season very poorly, but have rebounded as of late, going 7-3-0 in their last 10 and are now a .500 hockey team with a 12-12-3 record.
Recently it was announced that goal scoring winger Brock Boeser had requested a trade and the Canucks agreed they would make it happen. It was also announced that they would be willing to accept lesser value on a return on Boeser.
It would make sense if they accepted an offer that was only draft picks as they could use his cap room to re-sign captain Bo Horvat who is a UFA at the end of this season.
Horvat is currently on pace to have a career year in goals and points, currently he has scored 20 goals and 29 points in 27 games.
His current contract has an AAV of $5,500,000 and especially with the season he is currently having, the 27 year old Captain is looking for a huge raise.
Apparently though, the Canucks are not looking to give him that raise. According to Hockey Feed Frank Seravalli was on the Sekeres & Price podcast yesterday and reported that the Canucks have offered Bo Horvat a contract that carries a cap hit of only $5,125,000.
Seravalli said Canucks first offer to Horvat was 8 years at 5.125 mill per season. #LMAOOOOOO

He is on pace for 60 goals this season, and apparently the Canucks feel he deserves a pay decrease? The team offered a huge contract to JT Miller last season, and are paying Quinn Hughes $7,850,000 per season.
This contract is a slap to the face of Bo Horvat who has committed so much to this team.
Seravalli also reported that he believes a team is willing to pay Horvat $9 million in free agency.
According to Seravalli, one team's willing to pay Horvat at least a contract that starts with a $9.#canucks— BuckFoston (@BuckFoston_) December 8, 2022
