We are just over a week now until the 2023 National Hockey League Trade Deadline and things are starting to get exciting. We've already seen two superstars taking off the board in Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly.
Yesterday we saw some contracts moved around in Shea Weber and Nikita Zaitsev and things are just getting started.
The biggest fish available in the pond this year is three-time Stanley Cup Champion Patrick Kane.
For the longest time it was believed that the New York Rangers were going to be the final destination for Patrick Kane, but after the trade they made for Vladimir Tarasenko, it seemed very unlikely that they could also fit in Kane.
It was reported that due to his lingering injury that they were ''scared off'' but in his last few games, Kane has been on an absolute heater, and this may have been just what teams wanted to see.
After this recent surge, according to New York Posts Larry Brooks, the Rangers are set to make a push for the multiple 100 point scorer:
According to sources, the Rangers have signaled they will try to make it work if Kane who has yet to declare his intentions is willing to waive his no-move clause in order to come to New York. We are told interest has not waned in the least since the acquisition of Vladimir Tarasenko from St. Louis on Feb. 10.
That, and not an additional fourth-liner, is the game Drury is hunting.
Even playing through an injury at 34, Kane has proven this season he can be a difference maker. He has scored 14 goals and 42 points in 53 games this season on a poor Chicago Blackhawks team.
If a team is looking for a player who can take over a game in the playoffs, Kane is your man.
