When it comes to National Hockey League General Managers, I think most of us can't argue that Steve Yzerman is one of the best. Every move he makes has a lot of calculated decisions behind it and wants the best for his team and players, and yesterday he made a move that is what he thinks is best, but is a little confusing to the rest of us.
After calling him back up to play in the NHL for the first time since October, the Detroit Red Wings have already demoted Jakub Vrana back to the AHL to play in Grand Rapids after just one game.
Vrana missed a significant amount of time after entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program for substance abuse, then when he completed the program he was sent to the AHL.
He started off very poorly, and ended up being a healthy scratch on occasion, but recently he had been on a goal scoring streak which saw him be brought back up to the big club.
On Tuesday he got to see his first game of NHL action since entering the program, and played in 11:31 of game time, registering 2 shots on goal.
