The Leafs lost some depth players in the offseason like Ilya Mikheyev, Ondrej Kase, Jason Spezza and a few others, but the most significant name they lost was starting goaltender and fan favourite Jack Campbell.
Going into free agency they needed to find a replacement and opted to make a trade with the Ottawa Senators to take on two-time Stanley Cup champion Matt Murray and sign Washington Capitals cast-off Ilya Samsonov.
While both of these goalies have huge potential, there is also a risk of huge failure as well, and apparently Kyle Dubas has already made some calls incase that failure happens.
According to Fanside's Editor In Leaf:
If the Toronto Maple Leafs fail once again to make it out of the first round of the playoffs, this is most likely the end for Kyle Dubas. He knows his job is on the line and he is going to do everything he can to keep it.
