REPORT: Former first round pick enters the NHL Player Assistance Program
Today it was announced that a former Montreal Canadiens first round pick has entered into the National Hockey League's Player Assistance Program.
After bouncing between the NHL and AHL in the Montreal Canadiens organization for a few seasons, after being drafted 25th overall back in 2013, Michael McCarron found himself a home in Nashville where he has been the past few seasons with the Predators.
Today the team announced that McCarron entered the Player Assistance Program.
The National Hockey League Players' Association and National Hockey League announced today that forward Michael McCarron of the Nashville Predators will be unavailable to his Club for an indefinite period while he receives care from the player assistance program of the NHL and NHLPA.
Under the terms of the joint program, McCarron will continue to be paid while receiving treatment. He will return to the Club when cleared for on-ice competition by the program administrators.
McCarron's care will be administered pursuant to the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.
