This past Friday, a team in the QMJHL, the Drummondville Voltigeurs made a heartbreaking announcement that one of their players has tragically passed away.
Francis Durocher was selected by the Voltigeurs in the 3rd round of the 2021 QMJHL draft.
Not too long after being drafted, he was unfortunately diagnosed with Leukemia during his first season with the Voltigeurs:
Leukemia is cancer of the body's blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system.
Many types of leukemia exist. Some forms of leukemia are more common in children. Other forms of leukemia occur mostly in adults.
Leukemia usually involves the white blood cells. Your white blood cells are potent infection fighters they normally grow and divide in an orderly way, as your body needs them. But in people with leukemia, the bone marrow produces an excessive amount of abnormal white blood cells, which don't function properly.

The Voltigeurs released the following statement on social media:
On behalf of all the Voltigeurs players, staff, volunteers and partners, we offer our sincere condolences to the family and to Francis' loved ones
We at House of Hockey would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Durocher's family and friends. He was far too young.
