As fans of the National Hockey League, we want to believe that everything is done fairly, there is no corruption, no cheating, nothing is pre-planned, everything just happens fairly and personally I choose to believe that it is.

With the All-star game just passing, everyone remembers when hockey fans made the NHL's life a nightmare, when fans were given the option to ''vote in'' players, and everyone took it as a joke and voted in enforcer John Scott.

Well, if you recall back then, while none of this was confirmed, the NHL seemed to try and do everything in their power to stop this from happening.

John Scott himself today discussed the trade that occurred during this time between the Arizona Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens:

Yeah, when I got to Montreal, I didn't even go to Montreal I went to St. John's. I talked to Bergy, Bergevin. I knew him from Chicago from when he was a scout. You know how they give jobs to ex players, here be a scout Bergy. I talked to him after the trade and he said "John I didn't even want yah. I just had to make this trade." And he didn't elaborate.

But there was Bettman's fingers all over that trade.

Check out the video here:

While we cannot 100% verify this is exactly what happened, it looked even in the eyes of the fans back then, the NHL was definitely trying to prevent Scott from taking part in All-Star Weekend.

But I guess joke was on them, because he captained the team to victory!
