The 2023 National Hockey League Entry Draft promises to be one of the most exciting we have seen in a long time. The draft features multiple possible franchise players in Matvei Michkov, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson and of course, Connor Bedard.
Bedard has been on fire this season, setting records in the WHL and CHL. Despite missing many games due to the World Juniors, Bedard still finished the season in first place in goals and points. In just 57 games this season, Bedard scored an impressive 71 goals and 143 points, which was 36 points more than second place Chase Wheatcroft who played for Prince George.
Bedard played for the Regina Pats, who were a middle of the pack team this season, and with the team knowing that next year they will be without Bedard, normally this is when a team trades away their star players for assets.
But according to NHL Insiders Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek, Bedard refused to be traded:
Friedman and Marek on 32TP says Connor Bedard didn't want to go to the Kamloops Blazers in a potential WHL trade.
So instead, he remained with his team and are currently up 2-0 in a series against the Saskatoon Blades.
