Noah Hanifin was a 5th overall draft pick, originally projected to go top 3, but you never hear of his name from that draft as it featured superstars like Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner who have all become some of the top players in the league today.
After spending a few seasons in Carolina, he was traded with Elias Lindholm to Calgary Flames for Micheal Ferland, Dougie Hamilton and Adam Fox.
Since becoming a member of the Flames, Hanifin has quietly developed into one of the leagues best defencemen, but you would never know it. Hanifin scored 10 goals and 48 points last season but you never hear a word of him in the media because he isn't 'flashy'.
Steve MacFarlane of Calgary Hockey Now stated that the conversations didn't last long because once the Flames told the Bruins of the cost it would take to acquire the defenceman, the conversations immediately stopped.
The Bruins are in a tough situation as they want to take one more chance at winning a cup this season and with Pastrnak in the final year of his current deal which makes him a UFA at seasons end, they need him to compete, but they can't afford to lose him for nothing in the offseason.
