New Details Concerning NHL's Expansion Emerges
Expending is always in the back of the NHL's mind. They probably don't actively plan for it, but their eyes and ears are opened.
A new location came out in the rumors mill to be the NHL's 33rd team.
Potential Location Revealed
It looks like a new arena will be built and ready by 2025 in San Diego, California!
"Stan Kroenke's real estate group is taking over a new arena project in San Diego.
Midway Rising' will include:
▪️ A 16,000-seat arena
▪️ Thousands of new housing units
▪️ A hotel
▪️ Retail space
▪️ Ability to house an NBA or NHL team
It could open as soon as 2025."
Expansion or Relocation?
This could be a great relocation spot for the Coyotes, but it could also host a completely new team.
However, there's one important detail to note. The proposed arena would only have 16,000 seats, which is smaller than the current NHL standards. In comparison, T-Mobile Arena can accommodate 17,500 attendees, Climate Pledge Arena has 17,150 seats, and the largest NHL venue surpasses it by over 5,000 seats.
Only time will tell what will be decided, but if the NHL doesn't get in that arena, we might see some NBA action in San Diego!
