Mike Babcock was fired by the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 20th, 2019 and hasn't been behind an NHL bench since. After taking a job coaching University hockey, Babcock is reportedly looking to make a return and recently even interviewed for a Head Coaching job.
The Vancouver Canucks have been a circus act over the last few weeks dragging on the termination of former head coach, Bruce Boudreau, longer than it ever should have. According to Rick Dhaliwal the Canucks spoke to many high profile candidates, including Mike Babcock before deciding to hire Rick Tocchet.
On the the Team: Donnie & Dhali show yesterday, Rick confirmed that the Canucks spoke to many high profile candidates including Babcock, but shutdown any rumors that Barry Trotz was interviewed. Barry Trotz is represented by the same agent as Bruce Boudreau, which likely contributed to his lack of interview.
