It's fair to say the Olympics for NHLers might begin and end with Connor McDavid. McDavid is the biggest star in the world and the best player in the game, so of course everyone wants to know his thoughts on NHL players attending the Olympics.
Today McDavid described the potential quarantine process "unsettling" when asked how he felt.
Truthfully as a fan of hockey I love best on best hockey, but as a fan of the Oilers how would you feel if McDavid attends the Olympics for 3 weeks and then tests positive. This could result in McDavid being away from the team up to another 5 weeks, not to mention it very well could be impossible to maintain your physical fitness while in isolation.
The NHL owners and management have truly played this situation perfectly as they've left the decision in their players hands, thereby fulfilling their end of the agreement while also likely knowing that no player on their right mind is going to make the decision to travel to Beijing.
