The Toronto Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues have completed a trade for Kyle Clifford. Clifford had just cleared waivers and is eligible to be assigned directly to the AHL. In exchange St. Louis receives the coveted Future Considerations.
Clifford is currently in the 2nd year of a 2 year deal with an AAV of $1,000,000. Under the current CBA that amount is fully buriable.
Clifford had previously been acquired by the Leafs on 2020 in the same deal that the Leafs acquired
Jack Campbell.
Clifford's time in Toronto was short and he might most notably he remembered for the hit that led to the now infamous "EBUG Game".
It will be interesting to see where Clifford slots in as he struggles to fit into the Blues lineup this season.
