This past week the Chicago Blackhawks made the controversial decision that they would not be re-signing their long-time Captain Jonathan Toews.
Thursday night was officially Toews' final game in a Blackhawks uniform and he scored a goal in the losing effort.
Toews helped lead this franchise to 3 Stanley Cups in 6 years and has been considered one of the best leaders in the National Hockey League.
At the end of each season, players have exit interviews with the media, and MacKenzie Entwistle told reporters how Toews explained to his teammates why he wont be returning next season:
MacKenzie Entwistle said Jonathan Toews told the guys in Seattle that the Blackhawks wouldn't be re-signing him. Nothing formal, just casual talks with teammates in the meal room. - Mark Lazerus of The Athletic said.
