Sometimes things happen and players are traded or choose to sign with a team as a free agent, but that doesn't mean you or I have to like it. Here are five examples of players that played for teams and it just didn't feel right and a lot of the time it just felt wrong.
In our third edition of "It just feels wrong" we take a look at 5 goalies that just never fit on some teams.
Dominik Hasek
When you think of Dominik Hasek you think of either the Buffalo Sabres or Detroit Red Wings and that's why it felt so wrong for Hasek to play 43 games for the Ottawa Senators. Although Hasek performed admirably his tenure in Ottawa was cut short by an injury, but what really hurt was that injury was suffered at the Olympics playing for his native Czech Republic.
Hasek would never suit up for the Senators again even when the team found themselves down 3-0 in their second round matchup, despite having clearance from team doctors.
Ed Belfour
When you think Eddie "The Eagle" you usually think Chicago, Dallas or Toronto, but what most people forget is an awkward 13 game stint with the San Jose Sharks in 1997. When Belfour was traded from Chicago to San Jose he went on to put up a disappointing 3-9-0 record before fleeing to Dallas where the Eagle would win a Stanley Cup.
Grant Fuhr
Grant Furh wasn't one of those goalies that played his entire career with one team, but he won 4 Cups as a member of the Edmonton Oilers and that's why when the St. Louis Blues traded Fuhr, 37, to the Flames in September 1999 it just felt wrong.
So when during the final year of his career Furh ended up playing for not only the Calgary Flames but their AHL affiliate the Saint John's Flames it felt like an awful end to a storied career. Fuhr just never looked right in the Oilers' rivals jersey.
Marc-Andre FleuryWhen Fleury joined the Golden Knights it felt like a match made in heaven and the second he pulled on that jersey it felt like a perfect fit. It was like Fleury was meant to be a Knight all along, especially as he carried them to a Stanley Cup appearance in their first year as a franchise. Then things changed and
Robin Lehner was brought in to take the helm as their starter and Fleury was on the outside looking in.
Cue the trade to Chicago, it was rumoured it took a lot of convincing to get Fleury to agree to report to the Hawks and when he did it just didn't feel right. Fleury is a 3 time Stanley Cup winner and a Vezina Trophy winner, but notching his 500th career victory as a Blackhawk just kind of stinks.
Henrik Lundqvist
Unfortunately this debut never came to fruition due to health issues, but even the sight of King Henrik in another jersey didn't feel right. So when Lundqvist was bought out and signed with the Capitals it was a very odd sight to see.
