Darren Dreger revealed that Owen Tippet is going to be a healthy scratch for Charlotte as he is most likely being sent to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Claude Giroux.
After making multiple trades yesterday, it does not seem like the Panthers are done and are obviously going for it this year. Giroux will bring plenty of skill and leadership to the top 6.
The only question now begs, who else will be going to the Flyers to free up the cap space? Currently the Panthers have $3,703,347 in cap space and even if the Flyers retain 50% of Giroux's contract of $8,275,000, thats still $4,137,500 which puts them over the cap.
Could we see an exchange of veterans and the Panthers sent Joe Thornton to the Flyers as a cap relief trade?
