The Toronto Maple Leafs came into 2023-24 with more optimism than we've seen in recent years following their first-round win a season ago, but less than half way into November, it appears things are falling apart.
With red-hot teams like New York, Detroit and potentially Boston all interested in Kane, it's hard to argue with Friedman that if Kane was basing his choice on this year along, Toronto would be very, very low on his list.
Despite their struggles on the blue line and in net, this is a Maple Leafs team still stacked full of talent, and with just two points currently separating them from second-place in the Atlantic Division, they can still turn their season around.
Whether it's landing Kane, making a splash trade for an elite level goaltender or defenseman, the Leafs certainly have options, but right now, it appears as though Friedman and other insiders don't believe any of the Kane to Toronto hype.
