Insider Believes Nylander Trade to Conference Rival is Imminent
Contract extension negotiations between the Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander have stalled in recent weeks. Aside from trade rumors, no new developments have been reported.
A reputable insider believes a trade is imminent.
Nylander Trade on the Horizon?
Eklund of Hockey Buzz has just revealed that the Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders are in talks about a trade involving William Nylander.
According to the insider, we can expect an update on the situation later today...
Islanders' Quest for Offense
It's no secret that the Islanders have struggled to score goals in recent years. Acquiring Nylander could be a significant boost to their offense.
Last season, he racked up 87 points in 81 games with the Maple Leafs. Teamed up with Barzal or Horvat, he could be a game-changer for the Islanders.
In Toronto, parting with Nylander would alleviate some of the Leafs' financial strain. Nylander's nearly $7M salary would certainly make life easier for Brad Treliving.
