Last night a massive fight broke out at the end of a 5-1 blowout between the Sarnia Sting and the London Knights of the OHL. After letting five goals get past him, goaltender Karsen Chartier laid out an attacking Knights forward which got the attention of his opponents.
The video of the incident shows Chartier laying out the forward and two players, Cooper Way of Sarnia and Ryder Boulton of London, dropping the mitts.
Cooper Way, the victor of the fight, is a 20-year-old forward in his final year of OHL hockey. Through 34 games, the forward has 4 goals and 11 points as well as 22 PIMs. The Waterloo native was not drafted into the NHL but could likely pursue a pro career after his OHL career is finished.
Ryder Boulton is the son of former NHL enforcer Eric Boulton. While he was defeated by Way, he is three years younger and four inches shorter. Boulton, a 2024 draft eligible, has two goals and three points through 27 games this year. Like his father, Boulton is averaging over a penalty minute a game with 47 PIMs thus far. He is a long shot to get drafted this year but could very well be a late-round swing by a team looking to add grit.
