Gary Bettman isn't the most popular person with NHL fans. Many fans believe he has a vendetta against Canadian markets and has continued to keep the Arizona Coyotes in the league. Despite all signs, they should be relocated. But today he provided an update that should bring a smile to some Canadian fans faces.
Before tonight's Montreal Canadiens versus Boston Bruins game Bettman took to the podium to speak about possible expansion.
Bettman explained that Geoff Molson, the owner of the Montreal Canadiens would approve the expansion to Québec City. This was always viewed as a potential major hurdle for any team entering the league.
This is exciting news for Canadian fans and they provide some hope of an 8th team entering the Canadian market.
With locations like Vegas and Seattle already being extremely profitable, it's only a matter of time before the NHL looks expand again.
