People think if you make it to the NHL your set for life right? You get that big contract you play until your mid 30's and set for the rest of your life.
Unfortunately that's not always the case. The former NHL defenseman has been sharing on social media the reality of NHL players making millions and Pronger has shared that some of those players have ended up going broke once in retirement.
There are few former NHL athletes who have had fame and fortune like Chris Pronger.
Pronger was one of if not the best defenceman during his tenure in the NHL, he was a defenceman who was feared both physically and skillfully every place he went, until having to retire early due to unfortunate injury.
Pronger earn a estimated $112,000,000 million over the course of appearing in 1,167 career games and winning one Stanley Cup as a member of the Anaheim Ducks.
While last week Pronger explain his take on why so many professional athletes run into financial troubles later in life, on Wednesday he broke down what happens to a player signing a huge contract and how the money gets spent quickly.
Revealing a lot of the players think the money will last forever so they buy super expensive homes, vehicles, boats, jewelry, designer suits, as well as fancy dinners, and buy family and friends expensive gifts and homes and spend money like there's no tomorrow.
Pronger also breaks dow salary to taxes, to housing and medical fees and other unexpected fees players don't think about until it's too late.
