Some players in the NHL remain with the same team their whole careers and some are journeymen. Derick Brassard is the definition of a journeymen, joining his 10th NHL team of his career after a trade at the NHL trade deadline to the Edmonton Oilers from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a 4th round pick.
Brassard has played on the: Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers and now the Edmonton Oilers.
Since joining the Oilers Brassard has scored 2 goals in 13 games, and is a minus 2. He has been playing primarily on the fourth line and averaging less than 10 minutes a game and was a healthy scratch between April 13-21, not something Brassard is used to or a role that he thrives in.
With the NHL getting deeper, faster and more skilled, is the final season we will see Brassard in an NHL uniform? Or will be continue on his quest to play for all 32 teams?
