Flyers First Round Pick Misses Development Camp and Their GM Doesn't Know Why
Michkov: Best Prospect in Philly
Briere drafted Matvei Michkov in the last NHL draft and caused quite a stir. He's currently under contract in Russia for a few years, but Briere isn't worried about that.
He said that Michkov absolutely wants to play for the Flyers and in the NHL, and that he'll come after his KHL contract expires.
Michkov wasn't at the team's development camp, but we can understand why.

However, what Briere should be worried about is that another top prospect skipped the camp for no apparent reason.
First Round Pick Wants Out of Philly?
In a recent press conference, Briere revealed that Cutter Gauthier, the Flyers' fifth overall pick in 2022, would miss the development camp but doesn't know why.
Here are the GM's comments:
"Cutter was invited, but he decided not to come. We assume it's because he played a lot of hockey with his participation in the World Championship."
The situation is mysterious. Why wouldn't Gauthier disclose the reason for his absence to his own GM? However, Briere isn't worried about that.
«We'll find out a little bit more. We're trying to figure out why he didn't want to come, but at this point, I'm not too worried about it.»
Gauthier, 19 years old, played for Boston College last season and scored 37 points in 32 games. He'll play in the NHL for a long time, but this turn of events could indicate that he plans on playing somewhere else.
