Eichel camp presenting medical documentation to Sabres in support of artificial disc replacement
The Buffalo Sabres have definitely dug their heels in when it comes to former captain Jack Eichel, refusing to budge on their lofty asking price on the former 2nd-overall pick.
Eichel has been sidelined with a neck injury since last season, which will require surgery to repair. The type of surgery, however, is what the two sides cannot seem to agree on. The team has taken a firm stance on a disc fusion, while the disgruntled center is adamant about the more experimental artificial disc replacement.
Per ESPN's Emily Kaplan, with trade rumours slowing to a crawl, the Eichel camp is planning to present an overwhelming amount of medical opinions that are in support of the surgery that the player prefers in a last-ditch effort to gain team approval for an artificial disc replacement.
If, after all of this, Eichel and the Sabres are able to come to an agreement that would either keep him in Buffalo or get him back on the ice to allow his play to drive up his trade value, that would certainly be a heck of a way to end a lengthy stalemate.
