This offseason the Boston Bruins made the controversial decision to fire former head coach Bruce Cassidy. All he did was win with the organization, so at the time no one knew what the cause of the firing was.
What sparked even more controversy was apparently Cassidy asked at the end of the season if his position was 'safe' and the Bruins confirmed it was, but he was fired anyways. Well, as good of a coach as Cassidy is, it looks like it was the smart move as the Boston Bruins have been on fire this season. They care currently ranked 1st in the league with a 34-5-4 record.
David Krejci who has been one of the best players in the organization for awhile, made his return this season after taking a year to go back and play in his home country, and well, despite missing a year, he has not missed a step. So far this season Krejci has 11 goals and 34 points in 38 games.
After his 1000th game the other night, he took a bit of a shot at his former coach:
''I'm very thankful and grateful that they gave me a call in the summer to come back. Obviously there's some expectations, but I'm just glad with the way the team is playing. The record speaks for itself. I feel this could be a special year. We know what we have in this room, we don't take it for granted, and we'll see how it goes. But I like the mentality of this team to stay in the moment, take it game-by-game. Practices have been good. Obviously, the coaching change helped a lot. We're obviously feeling good.''
