It's been an action-packed first stretch of Daniel Briere's tenure as the General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers. The former player, now GM, has already made some big splashes, by way of both the draft and the trade market.
Ethan Bear, who has spent the past few years of his career split between Edmonton, Carolina, and most recently Vancouver, has had a rocky road to where he is now. Despite his very solid two-way game, injuries have prevented him from truly blossoming as a top-four defenseman.
Bear would have to beat out at least four of Cam York, Travis Sanheim, Marc Staal, Victor Mete, Emil Andrae, Sean Walker, Rasmus Ristolainen, Helge Grans, and Nick Seeler in order to secure a regular spot on their roster. While younger players such as Andrae and Grans may spend a bit more time in the AHL, the rest of those defensemen will be hard to beat, especially if he hasn't played in a while.
