The number one pick has remained modest about his talents and what he wants to do come opening night vs his idol.
Bedard Shares Comments About Opening Game
The NHL schedule was released yesterday and we can already begin to mark our calendars for some nights. One of these nights is opening night where Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks will be playing Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.
Bedard's idol was Crosby and when asked about the possibility of playing his first NHL game against him, he had quite an unexpected response.
Facing Crosby
«I was trying not to look at the schedule. People were telling me, I didn't want to look too hard. Man, if I'm able to make the squad come October That's my idol ever since I can remember. That'd be unbelievable.»
It is clear he was not certain he was going first and wanted to make sure things were done before he started to look ahead. While he also eludes to not being able to make the Hawks, he is clearly just being modest.
