TSN Insider Darren Dreger shared some huge news for the CHL and NHL alike. According to Dreger the CHL has announced the return of the NHL Top Prospects Game. Dreger sent out the following tweet today:
"As we reported last week on Insider Trading: Great news for NHL draft eligible prospects. The CHL has reinstated its Prospects Game for March 23rd in Kitchener. Two teams involving the top 40 draft eligible players."
The game was originally scheduled for February 2nd, but has been pushed back until March to avoid current COVID restrictions in place, in Ontario. Last year's event was also cancelled due to COVID restrictions. The last time this event was held was January 2020.
The top prospects game is an annual showcase that allows the top 40 prospects from the QMJHL, WHL and OHL showcase their talents. Unlike the NHl All-Star Game this event is usually high intensity with fights, hits and a high level of compete.
Shane Wright, Matthew Savoie and Conor Geekie are currently the 3 top rated CHL prospects.
