With the Vegas Golden Knights fighting for a playoff spot this is news that no Vegas Golden Knights fan will want to hear.
"This is breaking news for the Vegas Golden Knights, who are currently in Edmonton, to face the Oilers Saturday afternoon. Goalie Robin Lehner was forced to rush back to Vegas due to a health issue of one of his family members. We look forward to his return to the team as soon as possible,» The Golden Knights announced on social media.
The Knights recalled goaltender Jiri Patera from the American Hockey League on Friday on emergency basis. Logan Thompson started Thursday night in the Knights' biggest game of the season against Calgary and made 35 saves in a 6-1 victory. This has to be worrisome, hopefully Robin Lehner's family member is Okay.
Previous years the Golden Knights had 2 goalies in Robin Lehner and Marc-Andre Fleury but they traded Fleury in the off-season to Chicago and could have tried to re-acquire him at the deadline but couldn't due to salary cap issues. If Lehner is gone long term how does this effect the Golden Knights?
