The New York Islanders are visiting Vancouver to take on the Canucks on Wednesday night, and before the game, the Canucks welcomed back an old face, and it's safe to say the emotions were flowing.
Horvat gets emotional in his return to Vancouver
The 28-year old was a former first-round pick of the Canucks way back in 2013, and would go on to play 621 games for the team between the 2014-15 season and the 2022-23 campaign.
He was then traded to the New York Islanders, and while some were happy to see him go, it's safe to say he built a genuine connection with the city, as this was his reaction to his return game.
Bo Horvat was visibly emotional during warmups in his first time back at Rogers Centre after being traded.
Horvat became synonymous with the Canucks during his time
Over that time, Horvat would tally 201 goals and 420 points, and while the Canucks lacked playoff success throughout that time, he became a key piece of the organization.
Ultimately, the team are much better off this season under Rick Tocchet, but that's not a reflection of him leaving, as everyone on the team and around the city has had great things to say about him, and it's clear that it was an emotional time for him as well in his return.
